Small Businesses Fight Back

Recently, there has been a lot of talk regarding open carry in various businesses. Moms Demand Action have probably been most vocal when it came to persuading businesses to ask their customers not to bring their guns with them. So farm, only five businesses have been persuaded: Jack in the Box, Target, Chipotle, Chili’s and Sonic, while Starbucks is simply asking those that open carry not to be too showy about it. Now, it would appear that around 57.000 businesses, give or take a few, are doing quite the opposite.

Businesses welcoming guns include The Cajun Experience from Leesburg, Virginia, where they have a Wednesday night special every week, encouraging either concealed or open carry. In owner’s own words: “This is a Virginia restaurant and we abide by Virginia state laws, which allow for open carry or concealed carry in a restaurant — why should I hinder that?

There is a report in The Washington Times about a Chicken Express restaurant in Louisiana, where anyone with a concealed carry license received a free combo meal in a one-time Saturday night special. Supposedly it was the busiest Saturday night in the history of the restaurant.

Breitbart News had to reports regarding such occurrences, the first being on June 29 where the owners of Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado did everything they could to get the patrons to freely carry guns while visiting. The second one was on July 23, when Shiloh Brew and Chew in Maryville, Tennesee posted a “Guns are Welcome” sign on their front door. Their business has been improving since.

These, and many other restaurants are doing their best to fight the gun control demands. The current toll is: thousands of small companies against six huge corporate chains.
