Gun Buyback Program Has a Successful Weekend in New York

Residents of Bronx surrendered 120+ firearms this Saturday, including three assault weapons. The list goes on with 78 revolvers, 2 shotguns, several semi-automatic pistols and one rifle, along with some starter pistols, BB guns and other weapons. The former warranted a $200 gift cards (if in working condition) and a $20 for the latter.

NYPD Community Affairs Chief Joanne Jaffe tweeted about the success yesterday, with the hashtag #onelessgun, thanking the community for its efforts.

So far, the program has seen more than 8,000 guns surrendered since its start in 2008.
