A Vietnam veteran gives advice on what to do in case of a terrorist attack

A Vietnam veteran and owner of Kodiak gun shop Mike Muncy says more armed citizens may not stop terrorist attacks. But it may stop attacks if the terrorist knows his prey may be carrying weapons.

“Basically, you are not going to know who is armed and who isn’t,” Muncy said. “And you are going to be more cautious to go in there and commit a horrible crime like they committed if you know there are armed people in there. It changes the whole thing. It’s pretty much easy pickings for them.”

“When I was in Vietnam we would find people after a firefight holding a weapon and had not been fired,” he also said

If you are faced in this situation, even if you are armed, many law enforcement agencies advocate 3 things:

1. Get out and run if you can
2. Hide
3. Only pull out a gun if you are trained, and are confident in your abilities

“Basically to get out of the situation if you can. That’s the best thing to do”, Muncy completely agrees. “If you are in there and you think you can hide, second best thing. But if you know you are going to get shot, then fight, and that means pull your gun and shoot.”
