Gun sales booming in Tucson

From shotguns to ammunition, gun sales in Tucson are booming in the wake of the recent mass shooting in San Bernadino.

Second Amendment Sports General Manager Paul Rodriguez told sales are hitting the roof.

“We’re seeing a big increase in sales, home protection, guns ammunition and high capacity things like that,” Rodriguez said.

Employees in stores also mentioned people are coming in to purchase a variety of weapons.

“The increase in the soccer moms, the older generation that’s coming in protecting themselves,” said Rodriguez. “Taking training classes, learning more of what they’re buying.”

“If there is a small demand and you have a million people wanting it, it’s going to drive prices up,” Rodriguez said. “We’re kind of seeing an increase in some of these weapons that some of these people are actually looking for.”

Esteban Guzman, who’s been around firearms his entire life, said he isn’t surprised with sales booming.

“I feel safer if I have a firearm at least at home if someone breaks in, I just feel safer,” Guzman said.

With the holiday season, employees at Second Amendment Sports said they don’t see sales slowing down anytime soon.
